Deadpool - Marvel Comics (Mask Only)

Year made: 2010

Comments:
My friend Matt wanted to go as "Deadpool on vacation" for Halloween 2010, so knowing I made costumes, he asked me if I could make the mask for him. I told him that I'd be happy to, but that I would probably have a hard time doing so since I've never made a mask before. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be except for the eye parts -- those gave me a hell of a time. I don't really like working with stretchy material all that much, and I had no idea how I was going to make the eyes work. I decided that I would make a solid red mask, then mark where his eyes where and try to figure it out from there. In the end I decided to use vinyl for the black parts. I had him wear the mask as I was pinning on the black parts to the mask, which in my opinion, made it a lot easier than trying to figure out how to properly pattern them out with the black lycra material.

He was very satisfied with the work, and that made me happy as this was a project that I wasn't too confident in.

Materials Used:
Red Lycra - Mask
Black Vinyl - Black eye markings
White Chiffon - Whites of the eyes
