Comments:
This costume has been on my bucket list since I was in high school! I attempted to make it back in 2004, but it didn't turn out how I liked it so I scrapped it. There are so many designs of Morrigan throughout different fighting games. Marvel vs Capcom, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Darkstalkers, etc.. I decided to mix different elements of the designs I like the most. I tried to stay close to the sprite color scheme from the original Darkstalkers game.
The bodysuit is made out of 3 layers of fabric -- vinyl outer layer, heavy canvas middle, and a nice lightweight silky lining. The heavy canvas in the middle is fully boned to make the bodysuit stuff like a corset so that it can support the large back wings. The tights were bought from Target and I drew and colored in bats using purple fabric markers. Arm warmers were made from a light weight coral colored lycra (although in some photos they look pink!)
The both sets of wings are made from 2 different kinds of vinyl fabric with a wire frame inside to help retain it's shape, and also to be easy to bed for getting around in crowded convention hallways. The horn details on the wings were sculped by me and casted with resin. This is my first time ever casting resin and making molds!
My boots were bought from my local Goodwill and cut/atlered to match the shape of Morrigan's boots. I then made a bias tape from the same material as my bodysuit and sewed it to where I cut the boots to create a nice, finished trim.
